Vyagale’s Academy

TEKS / SEP-Aligned English Learning Objectives

Mexico: Preescolar

In Mexico’s Preescolar (Preschool), taught under the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) curriculum, subjects focus on foundational skills like Spanish, early math, science exploration (natural/social world), arts, and physical development, aligning with core TEKS principles by building language, numeracy, and critical thinking through integrated learning, though specific subject labels differ slightly, emphasizing integrated learning areas like «Knowledge of the Natural and Social World».

Key Subject Areas in Mexican Preescolar (SEP-Aligned)
While not identical to TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) categories, Mexican preschool curriculum emphasizes these foundational areas:

  • Lenguaje y Comunicación (Language & Communication): Developing oral expression, listening comprehension, and early literacy (Spanish focus).
  • Pensamiento Matemático (Mathematical Thinking): Early numeracy, shapes, patterns, and problem-solving.
  • Conocimiento del Mundo Natural y Social (Knowledge of the Natural & Social World): Exploring science concepts, community, and the environment.
  • Desarrollo Físico y Salud (Physical Development & Health): Gross/fine motor skills, healthy habits, and body awareness.
  • Expresión y Apreciación Artísticas (Artistic Expression & Appreciation): Music, visual arts, and creative expression.
  • Desarrollo Personal y Social (Personal & Social Development): Empathy, collaboration, self-regulation.

Alignment with TEKS/SEP Principles

  • Integrated Learning: Both systems use integrated approaches, teaching math concepts through play or science through exploration, rather than isolated subjects.
  • Foundational Skills: Both prioritize core competencies: literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and social-emotional growth.
  • Contextual Learning: Mexico’s «Knowledge of the Natural and Social World» directly supports TEKS Social Studies and Science goals by grounding learning in the child’s immediate environment.

Vyagale’s Academy adheres to the Mexican preschool curriculum and provides a holistic, play-based foundation that prepares children for primary school, much like the early years of TEKS focus on building essential skills for later academic success.
